This online Zoom event reviews three key study skills for university students: presenting, reading and writing in English. We begin with brief presentations of ourselves in English, focusing on our fields of study and why we chose them. Next we briefly reflect on how we read and how reading in a foreign language presents special challenges. Then we consider strategies for improving comprehension and speed when reading academic texts in English. We finish with a discussion of academic writing, reviewing key style elements as well as the importance of scientific standards.
Language of Instruction: English
Aims:
After successful attendance, the participants will be able to...
- reflect on own manner of presentation,
- analyse own reading style,
- summarise the basics of scientific work.
